This museum is dedicated to the work of Nikifor Krynicki, one of the most famous Polish folk artists. Nikifor (proper name Epifaniusz Drowniak), was born in 1895 in Krynica-Zdrój and was associated with the town for most of his life. Although he had no formal art education, he created extraordinarily colorful and emotional paintings.
The Nikifor Museum is located in the restored 19th-century villa "Romanówka", on Dietl Boulevards opposite the Old Spa House. It gathers the artist's works from all the periods of his career. Among them are more than 70 works from the interwar period, considered the best period in Nikifor's work. There are drawings and watercolors, as well as photographs, stamps he made himself, a chest in which Nikifor kept his belongings, and publications devoted to this extraordinary artistic personality. The attentive visitor will also find works by other artists in the museum.
