The Jan Kiepura Festival is the largest and most important cultural event which has been taking place in Krynica-Zdrój every year from more than 50 years now. The founder of the festival is Stefan Półchłopek. He wanted to commemorate the life and career of the great tenor Jan Kiepura, whom he met in person.
The festival presents a whole myriad of opera, operetta, ballet and dramatic theatre productions as well as promenade concerts. So, pay a visit to the pedestrian zone (Deptak), the main pump room (Pijalnia Główna), the theatre hall, the ballroom of the Old Spa House (Stary Dom Zdrojowy) and enter the world of great music performed by excellent singers, musicians, dancers and other artists.
Thanks to the Jan Kiepura Festival, each year, in mid-August, Krynica becomes the most singing city in Poland.
