Most tourists usually think of Krynica-Zdrój as a spa town, whose main attractions are the promenade and mineral water pump rooms. However, you should know that it's also the perfect place to relax for those who prefer activities by two wheels. Here are the most popular bicycle routes in and around Krynica-Zdroj!
Beskid Sadecki is an excellent choice for a vacation at any time of the year. The region offers fantastic possibilities for a variety of activities - starting with relaxing walks and sightseeing of local monuments, through skiing in the winter season, ending with climbing mountain peaks and cycling tours. There are plenty of kilometers of wonderfully managed routes at two-wheeled enthusiasts' disposal, which can take you to the most beautiful corners of the region, and which have their origin or run through Krynica-Zdrój.
The VeloKrynica bicycle route is a great option even for less experienced tourists and families with children, who are looking for calmer, asphalt paths with a lower level of difficulty. The VeloKrynica route is a spa recreational-tourist route, which has its beginning on the Krynica promenade and runs through the towns of Krynica Dolna and Powroźnik to Muszyna.
VeloKrynica is 12 kilometers long and is suitable for all types of bicycles. The beginning of the route is at the crossroads of Dietl Boulevards and Pulaski Street. Various facilities for cyclists have been created along its entire length, including a recreational gazebo with a fireplace, an outdoor gym or sanitary points. The route has been equipped with benches, trash garbage cans and solar lamps to facilitate riding after dark. An advantage of the route is its low average gradient of 2.7% and its location on low-traffic or bicycle-only roads.
A section of the AquaVelo route also runs through Krynica-Zdrój. The entire loop is 230 kilometers long, with a Polish length of nearly 94 kilometers, and runs from the border with Slovakia near the village of Muszynka, through Krynica-Zdrój and Piwniczna-Zdrój to Szczawnica, where its meeting point with VeloDunajec is located. Although the entire route is designed for intermediate cyclists, in the section from Krynica-Zdroj to Muszyna - where it overlaps with the VeloKrynica trail - its level of difficulty has been described as easy.
The VeloNatura route is a part of the EuroVelo 11 route that runs within the Małopolska province. The length of the path in Małopolska, starting at the Slovak border and ending at the border with the Świętokrzyskie province, is about 270 km, overlapping with VeloDunajec for a certain section. The VeloNatura route leads tourists through the most attractive areas of the Poprad and Dunajec valleys, surrounded by the Beskid Sądecki and Foothills.
