Spending Christmas away from home is becoming increasingly popular. A holiday getaway not only allows us to forget about the long preparations, cooking, and cleaning but primarily becomes an opportunity to relax with our loved ones. However, many of us wonder where to go for Christmas with the family?
Some of us, longing for warmth and high temperatures, choose exotic destinations when planning a Christmas getaway. Despite the capricious weather, many people still prefer to spend Christmas in Poland. Although Christmas offers are prepared by both hotels and smaller facilities in various parts of the country, the choice essentially narrows down to three main directions: mountains, sea, or lake. Which one to decide on?
Each of these options has its advantages – so a lot depends on our individual preferences. Among us, there are certainly fans of the Baltic Sea at any time of the year, who have long wanted to spend Christmas by the sea. In winter, a serene atmosphere prevails in the coastal towns and cities, and the air, saturated with iodine, encourages long walks. Similarly, in the towns by the lakes – especially those in Masuria – which are crowded in summer, you can count on peace and quiet in winter, conducive to regeneration and communing with nature.
However, the towns in the mountains seem to have a unique charm this time of year. Attracting with an equally magical atmosphere, covered with a layer of white fluff, surrounded by mountain ranges, and offering a range of unique attractions, they become the setting for dream Christmas holidays for many.
Opting for a Christmas getaway to the mountains, we can choose from lively resorts, atmospheric spas, or small towns. Many of them await tourists with numerous additional attractions, also available in winter, among which lovers of active leisure, enthusiasts of sightseeing and architecture, or those craving relaxation in wonderful natural surroundings will find something for themselves.
One of the more interesting destinations for a Christmas getaway is Krynica-Zdrój – a small spa town located about 30 kilometers from Nowy Sącz. In Krynica-Zdrój, we will find everything necessary for an effective, winter rest: numerous hiking and walking trails, interesting monuments, downhill and cross-country skiing trails, and spa complexes offering biological renewal and rehabilitation treatments – all in the surroundings of enchanting mountain landscapes.
Tourists who decide to spend Christmas in Krynica-Zdrój will be greeted primarily by beautiful nature – captivating regardless of the season. Wonderful scenery, numerous nature reserves, and a subalpine climate create ideal conditions not only for resting but also for spending holidays with loved ones. Mother nature can be encountered while traversing educational and nature paths, walking paths and hiking trails, among which both families with children and those experienced in mountain hiking will find something for themselves.
Enthusiasts of sightseeing will surely be charmed by the center of Krynica-Zdrój, which gains Christmas decoration during the holiday season. Along the Promenade located in this area, the most important and famous Krynica landmarks are situated: the Old Mineral Baths, the Old Spa House, the Old Mud Baths, and captivating architecture of villas and guesthouses. The city center also houses the Main Drinking Hall, concert shell, multimedia fountain, Nikifor Museum, or the Toy Museum, which has captured the heart of many a child.
The center of Krynica-Zdrój also includes Park Zdrojowy, which is an ideal place for relaxing walks for entire families. The park area is decorated with ponds, gazebos, and springs, and above it rises the picturesque Parkowa Mountain. You can reach its summit by cable rail, operating since 1937, covering a distance of 642 meters and a height difference of 142 meters. On Parkowa Mountain, there are interesting monuments and attractions for children.
During the Christmas stay in Krynica-Zdrój, enthusiasts of downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, or snowboarding can also pursue their passions. They can indulge in white madness, among others, in Henryk-Ski Ski Resort, located close to the city center, on the slope of Krzyżowa Mountain. The slope here features a medium inclination, making it a perfect place for children as well as beginners and intermediate lovers of winter sports.
A bit further from the center is Słotwiny Arena, one of the most famous ski resorts in southern Poland. Tourists have at their disposal 10 kilometers of ski slopes, chair lifts with wind shields, a lift for the youngest, and a snow park. The resort operates a modern snowmaking system, so you do not have to worry about the right conditions for skiing over Christmas.
However, there’s still one question left: where to spend Christmas in Krynica-Zdrój? The Belmonte Hotel has prepared a wonderful offer for holidays in the magical mountain scenery. The Family Christmas in the mountains package includes a festive traditional Christmas Eve dinner, holiday breakfasts, and a rich animation program for children and adults. After the Christmas Eve dinner, the youngest (but also the older ones!) can expect a visit from Santa Claus. Furthermore, hotel guests will participate in evening caroling or family movie sessions.
Christmas at the Belmonte Hotel is also an opportunity to take care of the body and spirit, enjoying access to the modern Wellness Zone with a pool and saunas, and making use of a limited winter special offer at Moon SPA. Among the additional advantages of the Belmonte Hotel, it is worth mentioning its location in the heart of Krynica-Zdrój, in the immediate vicinity of the Henryk-Ski resort, and amenities for families with children available on request. The comfort of hotel guests is taken care of by a concierge, while for a healthy, sweet sleep, tourists have the option of choosing a pillow from a special pillow menu.
