From June 21 to July 2, 2023, the 3rd European Games will take place, hosted by the Lesser Poland region and the city of Kraków. The sports competition venues will include Krynica-Zdrój, and located at its heart, Hotel Belmonte is listed among the venues recommended by the organizers for VIP guests and journalists.

What are the European Games?

The European Games are a high-class sports event of international scope, featuring the best athletes from Europe in their disciplines. The competitions are organized on a European Championships level and offer a chance to qualify for the Olympic Games in selected disciplines for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The 3rd European Games, taking place from June 21 to July 2, 2023, are organized by the Lesser Poland Voivodeship and the city of Kraków. The event is expected to see the participation of around 7,000 athletes from 50 countries. They will not only compete for medals – the games also promote the values most precious to sports and the Olympic movement – a healthy lifestyle, cultural and educational heritage, fair play principles, and friendship among nations.

European Games 2023 – development and promotion of the region

The European Games are an opportunity for the Lesser Poland to develop and promote the region, its local culture, and tourist attractions. The benefits of organizing the event also extend to the residents of Lesser Poland – many towns are undergoing infrastructural investments, and the games themselves will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience.

Athletes participating in the 3rd European Games will compete in several cities of Lesser Poland – Kraków, Tarnów, Krynica-Zdrój, Zakopane, Nowy Targ, Nowy Sącz, and Krzeszowice, as well as in Chorzów, Wrocław, and Rzeszów. Krynica-Zdrój will be the venue for competitions in mountain biking, judo and taekwondo athletes, and mountain runners. In addition, Krynica-Zdrój has been designated as a supporting athletes' village, which will include the Spa Houses of the Krynica-Żegiestów S.A. and commercial facilities.
