The Krynica Promenade is a true must-visit on the map of the city, well-loved both by the local inhabitants and the tourists. You will find here a whole myriad of various attractions as well as many historic building, souvenirs etc. If you don’t pay a visit to this gem of a place, it’s like you have never been to Krynica at all. Our concierge Ania recommends her own version of the stroll, for she knows best what’s particularly worth seeing. Her vivid words will tell you everything you need to know about this charming promenade.
Strolling through the Pedestrian Zone is like strolling through subsequent eras and stories of Krynica. The recreational zone will be your best relaxation spot where you shall catch your breath again. Oh, what a brilliance of colours, the promenade is like a rainbow. The flower composition that you will encounter on your way are literally stunning.
The scent of sage which you can feel already when making your first steps into the Dukiet Par (Park Dukieta) and the splash of water coming from the famous Setka Fountain soothe your senses and the surroundings bring harmony to your heart. This is the first part of the Promenade Complex which introduces you into the local artistic world.
The Janówka Glade (Polana Janówka) is an incredibly charming corner of the pedestrian zone. Recently, it has been revitalised and offers now peace and quiet which we need so much in our everyday life. Here, you can learn more about the history of Krynica as well as have some rest bathing in the sunrays. At the entrance to the park, in the shade of a majestic plane tree, stands the statue of Nikifor, an outstanding Lemko artist, accompanied by his faithful hound, Hałko.
A contemporary glass-stone installation referring to the charming and remarkable ambience of the Beskids presents the unique features of the area – a multitude of springs and watercourses shrouded in mist every evening. It opens the view of a truly exceptional building – an open-work arbour. It’s a miniature version of the original and beautifully decorated arbour which used to show the intake of the Jan healing water, a gem of the park, indeed. Right behind the arbour, in a quiet corner of the Glade, there stands the oldest pump room in Krynica – the Jan Pump Room (Pijalnia Jana).
Admiring the unique Krynica architecture is a phenomenal aesthetic experience and a history lesson about this wonderful Spa Resort. Each of the building tells its own story. The famous villas – Wisła, the majestic Witoldówka, the towering Tatrzańska, the charming Romanówka or the remarkable Biała Róża make the Krynica Pedestrian Zone stunningly soulful. But the undoubted king is the Old Spa House (Stary Dom Zdrojowy) which dominates not only by its size, but also by its majestic architectural style.
One of the most characteristic parts of the Krynica Pedestrian Zone is the Main Pump Room (Pijania Główna). The building dates back to the 70s’ of the 20th century and differs significantly in style from other buildings. This charming facility offers the famous healing waters – Słotwinka, Jan Water (Woda Jana), Tadeusz Water (Woda Tadeusz) or the true star – Zuber. But the most memorable thing about is the local flora. What kinds of plants are they? Check it yourself.
If you are curious and can’t wait to find out what else Krynica has to offer, don’t hesitate to contact Ania, our concierge, she will be happy to help you choose such attractions which would match your taste and interests best.
